Academic Achievements
Three papers co-authored by Viraj Muthugala will be presented at IROS 2024:
1. Dynamic Reconfiguration Integrated Nested A*: A Path Planner for Reconfigurable Robot to Improve Performance in Confined Spaces
2. A Decentralized Partially Observable Markov Decision Process for Dynamic Obstacle Avoidance and Complete Area Coverage using Multiple Reconfigurable Robots
3. Time-Ordered Ad-hoc Resource Sharing for Independent Robotic Agents
Research Experience
Research fellow at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Singapore.
Education
Earned a doctoral degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in July 2018. The research focused on developing an interactive robot for assisting disabled/elderly persons in domestic environments, with the main goal being to develop an intelligent system that can understand uncertain information such as 'small', 'far', and 'little' by adapting the robot's perception based on context, environment, and experience.
Background
Research interests include reconfigurable robotics, path planning, human-robot interaction, and service robotics.
