- Founded and leads the Center for Digital Agriculture (CDA)
- Leads the AIFARMS Institute
- Developed the CropWizard system, which has been licensed for commercial uses by multiple companies
- Conducted research in edge computing, including projects like HPVM, ApproxHPVM, and ApproxTuner
Research Experience
- Digital Agriculture: Co-founded and co-leads the Center for Digital Agriculture (CDA) at UIUC, which brings together multidisciplinary teams of researchers and educators spanning Computer Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Food Sciences, Biology, Sustainability, Ecology, and related areas.
- AIFARMS Institute: Leads the AIFARMS Institute, exploring foundational AI challenges and their role in addressing major agricultural challenges, particularly how to sustainably feed a global population projected to grow by 70% by 2050.
- CropWizard Project: Initiated the CropWizard project as part of AIFARMS, an interactive question-answering service for agricultural professionals based on generative AI and knowledge retrieval.
- Edge Computing: Building on the HPVM project, explores how compilers, autotuners, and approximate computing techniques can be used to achieve powerful computing capabilities under tight resource constraints.
