Has over 150 scientific publications, including 57 articles in JCR-indexed journals (46 in Q1, 8 in Q2, 1 in Q3, and 2 in Q4). These publications have garnered more than 5,000 citations (H-index of 29) according to the Web of Science and 11,000 citations according to Google Scholar (H-index of 36), with 3 of them rated as Highly Cited Papers, in the top 1% of citations in the field of Computer Science (according to Clarivate Analytics). He is also ranked within the Top 2% of the most cited authors in Artificial Intelligence (annually) according to the list published by Stanford University along with Elsevier from its first version (2019) to the latest (2024). For his publications, he has received several awards, such as the best paper award from the journal IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems 2013 (awarded in 2016) and the best poster awards at the XIX Congress of the Spanish Association of Remote Sensing (2022) and the XXVI National Congress of Health Informatics (2023).
Research Experience
Currently a Professor in the area of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Statistics, Computer Science, and Mathematics at UPNA. He is also a researcher at the Institute of Smart Cities (ISC) and head of the Tracasa Chair in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at UPNA, established in 2023. Since 2024, he is a co-founder and leading researcher of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Research (ARIN) group at UPNA.
Education
Obtained a degree in Computer Engineering from UPNA in 2009; Ph.D. with distinction from UPNA in 2012; Master's in Intelligent Systems and Soft Computing from the University of Granada in 2010.
