Research Experience
Currently a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Graduate School of AI, and Department of Applied Data Science at Sungkyunkwan University, leading the Natural Language Processing (NLP) Laboratory.
Education
Completed Ph.D. in August 2003, worked at Dong-A University from September 2004 until joining Sungkyunkwan University in September 2019. Visiting scholar at the Computational Linguistics and Information Processing Laboratory (CLIP) at the University of Maryland, College Park, collaborating with Prof. Doug Oard.
Background
Research Interests: Natural Language Processing (dialogue system, question/answering system, etc.), Information Retrieval (generative IR, etc.), Generative AI (controllable text generation, etc.), and Text Mining (text classification/summarization, sentiment classification, etc.). Recently, interested in developing and utilizing small Language Models (sLM) and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).
