Academic Achievements
- Has authored or co-authored more than 200 publications (including book chapters, journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports) and 3 patents. Recipient of 2020 Vincent Bendix Automotive Electronics Engineering Award, 2021 Arch T. Colwell Merit Award, 2017 - 2020 IEEE ITS Magazine Outstanding Paper Award, and Gold Award in the CVPR 2025 TUMTraf V2X Grand Challenge.
Research Experience
- Appointed as the Postdoctoral Fellow, Assistant Research Faculty, and Associate Research Faculty in the Transportation Systems Research (TSR) group at the Bourns College of Engineering—Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT), UC Riverside, in 2010, 2012, and 2018, respectively. Since July 2022, Dr. Wu has been working as a Full Research Faculty. In addition, he has been holding an Adjunct Professorship in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UC Riverside since 2017.
Education
- Received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley in 2010, while he had also been employed as a graduate student researcher at the California Partners for Advanced Transportation Technology (PATH).
Background
- Research interests include the development and evaluation of sustainable and intelligent transportation systems (SITS), optimization and control of transportation systems (from powertrain, vehicle dynamics, inter-vehicle cooperation, to traffic flows), traffic flow modeling and simulation, and vehicle emissions and powertrain modeling.
Miscellany
- Serves as an Associate Editor of three prestigious journals, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Open Journal – Intelligent Transportation Systems, and SAE Journal – Connected and Automated Vehicles. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member of National Academy of Investors. He is also a member of Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (COTA).
