Elevated to IEEE Fellow; team members have won awards such as the PURA award; has mentored multiple PhD students.
Research Experience
Leads the LIMBS Laboratory, exploring cross-modal sensory integration and motor control. Collaborates closely with neuroscientists, engineers, and clinicians to advance our understanding of animal and human motor systems and contribute to the development of more capable, adaptive robotic systems.
Background
Research interests span the intersection of neuroscience, biomechanics, and control theory, focusing on the principles of sensorimotor integration that enable agile, robust movement in animals and robots. Projects include a range of model systems from Drosophila melanogaster to weakly electric fish, as well as bat airflow sensing and flight control, and cockroach tactile navigation.
Miscellany
Professor of Mechanical Engineering, with courtesy appointments in Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Neuroscience.
