Academic Achievements
  • Published over 100 research papers, with a Google Scholar h-index of 40. Holds two US patents, one related to multilingual text mining. In 2021, supervised an interdisciplinary student team (Team Proto) that won the bronze prize in the Alexa Prize Socialbot Grand Challenge 4.
Research Experience
  • Currently a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. Research focuses on developing socialbots capable of engaging in empathetic, interesting, and purposeful conversations. Leads a research group focused on Conversational AI for Social Good. Has worked extensively with the US Government to develop innovative multilingual text mining solutions.
