Academic Achievements
  • Recipient of the 2023 Apple Scholars in AI/ML PhD Fellowship, 2023 EECS Rising Stars, 2025 CPS Rising Stars, and the Columbia University Morton B. Friedman Memorial Prize for Excellence. Served as an associate editor for ACM HEALTH and Elsevier Smart Health journals. Published multiple papers, such as 'Breathing and Semantic Pause Detection and Exertion-Level Classification in Post-Exercise Speech'.
Research Experience
  • Assistant Professor at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Data Science and Society, directing the UNC Networked Intelligence & Cyber-Embedded Systems Lab (NIcE X Lab). The lab focuses on the co-design of hardware platforms and software algorithms at the intersection of embedded AI, wearable technology, and computational AIoT systems.

  • Received a Bachelor of Science degree (Magna cum Laude with High Honors) in Engineering Science from Smith College (2017); Master of Science degree (Honor Student) in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University (2019); and is expected to receive a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University (2025), under the supervision of Prof. Xiaofan Jiang and Prof. Matthias Preindl.
