Academic Achievements

Shared new TextlessNLP research milestones including open-sourcing the Textless Python Library, modeling and creating emotional speech, and generating chit-chat dialogues with pauses, 'ums,' and overlapping speech. Released TextlessNLP, the first work that generates expressive speech from raw audio without using any text. Released the 2021 Zero Resource Speech Challenge focusing on Spoken Language Modelling. SYSTRAN participated in the News Commentary Translation Task at the 6th Workshop on Asian Translation, achieving the first rank in both directions ja-ru and ru-ja.

Research Experience

Interned at La Javaness, SYSTRAN, ENS Paris, and Facebook AI (now Meta AI). Visiting student at the CoML team (ENS Paris).

Education

PhD Candidate at ALMAnaCH team (INRIA Paris) and Meta AI under the supervision of Prof. Benoit Sagot and Prof. Emmanuel Dupoux starting from 2021. Graduated from the master MVA (Mathematics, Vision, Learning) at ENS Cachan (currently ENS Paris-Saclay). Also a polytechnicien (engineering student at École polytechnique).

Background

Research interests include Speech Processing, Natural Language Processing, and Unsupervised Learning. Studied engineering at École polytechnique.

Miscellany

Likes playing games, cooking, and enjoying delicious food. Used to make some noob music for himself and his wife. Proud to be born in Vietnam. Born in the Year of the Pig and has Leo as his Zodiac Sign.
