Academic Achievements
  • Served as Program Committee Co-Chair for ICDE 2026, and is currently a member of the program committees for KDD 2025, ICDE 2025 (Area Chair), and SIGMOD 2026. Associate Editor for Distributed and Parallel Databases (Springer, 2013 - present) and The VLDB Journal (Springer, 2021 - present). Publication records can be found on DBLP and Google Scholar.
Research Experience
  • Currently leading the Rapids Group at HKUST. Current projects include: Accord (Accelerating Big Data Applications on Heterogeneous Processors), GALLOP (GPU Acceleration for Genomics Applications), and Star Flow (Accelerating Online Processing of Astronomic Data on Heterogeneous Processors). Past projects include Catalac (Pervasive Query Processing), including GPUQP (Query Processing on the GPU) and Mars (MapReduce on the GPU).
Education
  • Received her Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, her M.S. and B.S. in Computer Sciences from Beijing (Peking) University, China.
Background
  • Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Her research interests are in big data systems, parallel and distributed systems, and data-intensive applications. Current focus is on data management on modern hardware, GPU acceleration for data analytics, and data processing support for e-science.
