Academic Achievements

Research Experience
  • Served as the Director of Health Computing Research Center with Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI) from 2021 to 2023. Before joining Tsinghua, he was the Vice President and Head of AI Lab at ByteDance, where he led research and technology development in areas such as machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, etc. Under his leadership, various AI-powered content creation and dissemination technologies were developed and integrated into products like Douyin, TikTok, Jinri Toutiao, CapCut, and Lark.
Background
  • Huiyan Chair Professor at Tsinghua University and the Chief Scientist at Institute for AI Industry Research (AIR). His main research focuses on AI for Science, especially in AI-powered drug discovery and generative AI for biology and chemistry.
