Academic Achievements
  • Involved in multiple EU research projects such as ASSAVID, DELOS, VIDI-Video, IM3I, ORUSSI, and euTV. The research outcomes have been transformed into commercial products like On:meedi:a and mymeedia.
Research Experience
  • Worked on the EU IST ASSAVID Project from 1999 to 2002, which dealt with the automatic annotation of sports videos.
  • Worked within the DELOS Network of Excellence on Digital Libraries from 2004 to 2007, funded by the EU Sixth Framework Programme.
  • Worked on the VIDI-Video project from 2008 to 2010, aiming to allow semantic access to video content by detecting a large number of concepts.
  • Worked on the IM3I project from 2010 to 2011, which aimed to create tools for accessing and presenting media content to users in a natural and transparent way.
  • Participated in the ORUSSI project, focusing on road monitoring through a network of roadside sensors (mainly cameras).
  • Recently worked on the euTV project, whose objectives are to connect publicly available multimedia information streams under a unifying framework and to allow publishers of audio-visual content to decide the availability and duration of the content.

  • Received the Laurea Degree in Electronics Engineering (Laurea in Ingegneria Elettronica) from the University of Florence in 1999, and Ph.D. in 2004.
