Research Experience
- Currently a senior manager of research and development at Big Data Institute, HKUST.
- Affiliated with HKGAI (Hong Kong Generative AI Research Center) and HKUST (GZ).
- At Huawei Hong Kong Research Center, as the tech lead, he initiated research works in Data-driven and Knowledge-aware eXplainable AI and translated a set of frontier research into Huawei's all-scenario deep learning framework MindSpore.
Education
- Graduated in 2014 with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, supervised by Prof. Lei Chen, working on Stochastic Combinatorial Optimization and its application in Data-driven Crowdsourced Human Computation.
- Received his bachelor's degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2010, finishing his undergraduate thesis under Prof. José C. González's supervision at Daedalus S.A. (acquired by MeaningCloud) & Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
Background
Research interests include human-centered AI, data-centric approaches, and applications of foundation models. Before joining HKUST, he was an AI Data specialist at Huawei Hong Kong Research Center, where he honorably founded the AI Framework and Data Technology Lab, focusing on data-driven and knowledge-aware explainable AI.
