Research Experience
Currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UC San Diego, directing the Existential Robotics Laboratory (ERL). Previously a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics at the University of Pennsylvania, working with Vijay Kumar.
Education
Ph.D. in Electrical and Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in July 2015, advised by George J. Pappas and Kostas Daniilidis; M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012; B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Trinity College in 2008.
Background
My research goal is to develop scientific principles for increasing the reliability, efficiency, and versatility of autonomous robot systems. My work focuses on autonomous information collection using ground and aerial mobile robots in localization and mapping, environmental monitoring, and security and surveillance applications. Relevant fields include robotics, machine learning, control theory, optimization, and computer vision.
