During his PhD, developed a platform for remote palpation that uses fully soft robotic interfaces for both control and feedback, incorporating functional smart materials like magnetorheological elastomers, making it comparable in diagnostic accuracy to state-of-the-art but significantly less invasive.
Research Experience
Since July 2024, working as a Research Fellow in Biomimetics at the Advanced Concepts Team of ESA. Main focus is on how biological systems can offer solutions for space-related applications and how we can artificially reproduce and control such systems.
Education
1. B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering at 'Politecnico di Torino'
2. M.Sc. in Bionics Engineering, with a specialization in Biorobotics, jointly at 'Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna' and 'University of Pisa'
3. Ph.D. in Bio-Inspired Robotics at the 'University of Cambridge' (obtained in October 2023), focusing on developing a platform for teleoperation able to reproduce remotely the sense of touch.
Background
Research interests: The intersection between engineering and biology, particularly where nature is taken as inspiration for technology and technology is used to investigate and explain complex biological processes. Professional field: Biomimetics.
