Research Experience
- Principal Researcher with the Data Systems group at Microsoft Research. Primary focus is on the project of “Autonomous Performance Tuning for Database and Big Data Systems”, using ML technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of query processing. Also worked with production teams on developing indexing technologies in Helios and Hyperspace.
Education
- Received Ph.D. from the Database Group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, under the supervision of Prof. Jeffrey Naughton.
Background
- Broad interest in database system, data mining, and machine learning. Currently working on query optimization, query processing, database system performance tuning, big data systems, distributed systems, data stream processing, and machine learning systems. Past work includes graph data management, personal data management, knowledgebase construction, social network analysis, data privacy, entity matching in data integration, database as a service in the cloud, etc.
