Academic Achievements
  • Published over 100 research papers, including in journals such as Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems (TMIS), ACM Transactions on Software Engineering Methodologies (TOSEM), and IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics. Member of the Steering Committee of the IEEE Task Force on Process Mining, co-editor of the process mining newsletter, and part of the XES/OCED working group. Serves as a reviewer for international journals (including Information Systems, Information Sciences, and Decision Support Systems) and as a PC member of numerous international conferences, including IJCAI, BPM, CAiSE, and ICPM. Was the general co-chair of the fifth International Conference on Process Mining in 2023 and co-organizer of several other international conferences.

  • Currently an associate professor at the Department of Information and Computing Sciences of Utrecht University (Netherlands). Previously, he was an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science of Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), and earlier, an assistant professor at the Institute for Information Business of Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna), Austria.

  • Received a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering with honorable mention in 2013 from Sapienza, University of Rome, with a thesis on the automated discovery of flexible workflows from semi-structured text data sources.
