Served as coordinator or chair for several important projects and conferences such as the MUSE project (2012-2016), EMNLP 2021 general chair, and is currently an associate editor of IEEE TPAMI.

Holds a MSc and PhD in Computer Science from KU Leuven; Appointed as a BOF-ZAP Research Professor at KU Leuven in 2005.
