Academic Achievements
  • Information on publications, awards, patents, and projects is not provided.
Research Experience
  • Currently a MACSYS Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Applied Statistics) at Queensland University of Technology, mentored by Christopher Drovandi. Previously, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Queensland in the School of Mathematics and Physics, mentored by Hien Duy Nguyen and Xin Guo. Before that, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Inria centre at the University Grenoble Alpes in the Statify team, mentored by Florence Forbes and Julyan Arbel, and collaborated with Hien Duy Nguyen as part of the WOMBAT international project team.
Education
  • Ph.D. in Statistics and Data Science from Normandie Univ in December 2021, advised by Faicel Chamroukhi. Visiting PhD Fellowship for 4 months at Inria centre at the University Grenoble Alpes in the Statify team within the LANDER project.
Background
  • An applied statistician and mathematician whose research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms and interactions between natural and artificial intelligence. His work includes the construction of virtual biological cells and the development of trustworthy and robust foundational artificial intelligence systems. Current research involves developing genotype-phenotype mapping methods for high-dimensional, heterogeneous biological data, leveraging AI techniques (modular deep learning, mixture of experts, large language models, and physics-/biologically informed neural networks) and statistical learning approaches (Bayesian inference, model selection, handling of missing data, and probabilistic graphical models). He also develops mathematical and statistical frameworks for calibrating large-scale scientific machine learning models using experimental data, and advances methods for the integration, interpretation, and application of multi-omics data.
Miscellany
  • Vietnamese name: Nguyễn Trung Tín. Uses “TrungTin Nguyen” or “Trung Tin Nguyen” in English publications, and the first name can be shortened to “Tín” or “Tin”.
