- Prior to joining UNL, he was a researcher in the ECE department at Iowa State University (2001 – 2002).
- Has led or participated in multiple research projects, such as the US STRATCOM/NSRI-funded 'AI Enabled Transceivers for Dynamic Spectrum Sharing Applications'.

- B.S. in Science and Technology in Context, M.S., and Ph.D. in Computer Science, all from Illinois Institute of Technology.

- Research interests include programming languages, runtime systems, software engineering, and cybersecurity, with a particular focus on leveraging programming language concepts and runtime properties to ensure the dependability, safety, and security of complex software systems.
- Serves as the director of the School of Computing and the interim chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UNL.
