Research Experience
Chief Research Scientist at Norsk Regnesentral (Norwegian Computing Center); part-time Associate Professor at the Language Technology Group, University of Oslo. Involved in multiple research projects such as CLEANUP (new, data-driven methods for removing personal information from text data), GraphDial (dialogue management using knowledge graphs), SAFERS (speech analytics for emergency response services), DialMT (dialogue modeling for machine translation), Oslo Analytics, and CyberRisk (cyber-threat intelligence and risk management). Since 2025, an Associate Editor of Dialogue & Discourse.
Background
Main research interests lie in natural language processing (language technology) and machine learning, specifically the development of Large Language Models (LLMs) and their use across various applications. Previous work includes human-robot interaction, conversational interfaces, data privacy, and neural machine translation.
Miscellany
Former member of the Young Academy of Norway; collaborating with the National Library of Norway and Universities of Oslo and Tromsø on the WebData project, aimed at developing infrastructure for accessing extensive archives of the 'Norwegian web' crawled by the National Library since the 1990s.
