Research Experience
Currently an Assistant Professor at Cornell University, advising multiple Ph.D. students and leading the Cornell Global AI Initiative. His research is supported by Microsoft, Google, Meta, Infosys, and others.
Education
Completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington, where his dissertation was recognized with the William Chan Memorial Dissertation Award and the WAGS/ProQuest Innovation in Technology Award.
Background
Assistant Professor at Cornell University, advising students in Information Science and Computer Science. Leads the Cornell Global AI Initiative, integrating global perspectives into the design, implementation, evaluation, and governance of AI technologies. Research focuses on designing, building, and rigorously evaluating AI systems that improve socioeconomic outcomes for underserved populations worldwide. Specific research areas include: 1. Examining and combating misinformation and propaganda in low-income communities; 2. Understanding and mitigating ableism for disabled people; 3. Designing and evaluating responsible AI technologies in the Global South.
