Academic Achievements
Recent activities: D. Chaparro, T. Jagdhuber, et al., 'Vegetation moisture estimation in the Western United States using radiometer-radar-lidar synergy,' Remote Sensing of Environment, Vol. 303, 2024, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rse.2024.113993.
Research Experience
Deeply involved in research projects that use machine learning to exploit Earth Observation data. Particularly interested in the development of data-driven models that respect physical laws, causal inference, and learning and explaining feature representations.
Background
Currently an Associate Professor and Senior Research Scientist at the Image & Signal Processing group (ISP), Universitat de València, in València, Spain. Research interests include microwave remote sensing, estimation of soil moisture and vegetation biogeophysical parameters, and development of multisensor techniques for enhanced retrievals with a focus on agriculture, forestry, wildfire prediction, extreme detection, and climate studies.
