Academic Achievements
  • Associate editor of the IEEE ToG journal and has been part of the organizational team for several conferences, serving in various roles such as general co-chair, proceedings chair, competition chair, and workshops chair.
Research Experience
  • Currently an associate professor at LIACS, the Computer Science department of Leiden University. His research focuses on evolutionary algorithms for real-valued problems, particularly multi-modal and multi-objective optimization, as well as computational intelligence and machine learning methods for computer games.
Education
  • Received his PhD in 2013 from the Chair of Algorithm Engineering at TU Dortmund, Germany, and was with ERCIS at WWU Muenster, Germany, from 2013 to 2018.
Background
  • Research interests include game AI, natural computing, and social media computing. He is a member of the interdisciplinary research program SAILS (Society, Artificial Intelligence, and Life Sciences).
