Associate editor of the IEEE ToG journal and has been part of the organizational team for several conferences, serving in various roles such as general co-chair, proceedings chair, competition chair, and workshops chair.
Research Experience
Currently an associate professor at LIACS, the Computer Science department of Leiden University. His research focuses on evolutionary algorithms for real-valued problems, particularly multi-modal and multi-objective optimization, as well as computational intelligence and machine learning methods for computer games.
Education
Received his PhD in 2013 from the Chair of Algorithm Engineering at TU Dortmund, Germany, and was with ERCIS at WWU Muenster, Germany, from 2013 to 2018.
Background
Research interests include game AI, natural computing, and social media computing. He is a member of the interdisciplinary research program SAILS (Society, Artificial Intelligence, and Life Sciences).
