Published a review paper on pain and injury; involved in UK-Japan collaboration; organized a neurofeedback workshop (June 2025); launched a free online neurotech course.
Research Experience
Based jointly at the Oxford Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging and the Oxford Institute for Biomedical Engineering. Affiliated with the Podium Institute for Sports Technology, the Alan Turing Institute, and has overseas links with the Center for Information and Neural Networks in Osaka and ATR labs (Kyoto). Clinical base is at John Radcliffe Hospital, offering NHS services in sleep, chronic pain, and fatigue.
Background
The research focuses on the computational and systems neuroscience of pain and behavioral homeostasis. This work is partly theoretical, building realistic models of neuronal information processes to understand pain perception and behavior, and partly experimental, testing these theories using a range of methodologies, especially fMRI. The aim is to develop new technology-based therapies for treating pain in clinical populations.
