Published several papers on topics such as Geometric Jensen-Shannon Divergence, Learning a Single Index Model, Fisher-Rao Geometry, Infinite-dimensional distances and divergences, etc. Also gave invited talks at various international conferences and workshops.
Research Experience
Currently, Team Leader of the Functional Analytic Learning Team at RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP), Tokyo. Previously, a researcher at the Pattern Analysis and Computer Vision group at the Italian Institute of Technology (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia) in Genoa, Italy. Before that, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Vienna, Austria, and Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany.
Education
Received a PhD in mathematics from Brown University under the supervision of Stephen Smale.
Background
Current research interests focus on machine learning and statistical methodologies using theories and techniques from Functional Analysis and related mathematical fields, particularly in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces, Riemannian geometry, Matrix and Operator Theory, Information Geometry, and Optimal Transport, especially in the Infinite-Dimensional setting.
