- Worked as a Research Associate at Bell Labs in the US from 2001 to 2002, where he discovered the First Generation Dilemma (FGD) in platform-based SoC design methodologies.
- Served as a Research Associate at NEC Laboratories America in the US from 2003 to 2005, focusing on Network-on-Chip designs and implementations.
- Joined Sandbridge Technologies, a startup company in the US, from 2005 to 2007, developing and implementing two generations of NoC-based ultra-low power Multiprocessor Systems-on-Chip.
- In 2007, joined the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, establishing Big Data System Lab, Xilinx-HKUST Joint Lab, and OPTICS (Optical/Photonic Technology for Interconnected Computing System) Lab.
