Academic Achievements
He has received several awards including the Student Award and the Awaya Kiyoshi Science Promotion Award from the Acoustic Society of Japan (ASJ) in 2011 and 2013, the Best Paper Prize from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2011, the Yamashita SIG Research Award from the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ) in 2014, the Young Researcher Award from the Association for Natural Language Processing (NLP) in 2015, and the ISS Young Researcher’s Award in Speech Field from the Institute of Electronic, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) in 2015.
Research Experience
Since joining NTT in 2011, he has been engaged in research on speech recognition, spoken language processing, and natural language processing. He has worked at NTT East-Aomori OJT, NTT Cyberspace Laboratories, and NTT Media Intelligence Laboratories' Audio, Speech, and Language Media Laboratory as well as Cognitive Information Processing Laboratory.
Education
He received B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in engineering from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 2009, 2011, and 2016 respectively. During his Ph.D. studies (2015.04-2016.09), he was supervised by Prof. Ito Nose at the Ito Laboratory.
Background
His research interests include Automatic Speech Recognition, Spoken Dialogue System, Spoken Language Processing, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning. He is a distinguished research scientist at Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT).
