Research Experience
Led the Advanced Controls Research Lab (ACRL) in flight tests at Edwards AFB using a Learjet augmented with L1 adaptive flight control law
Collaborated with the USAF Test Pilot School (TPS) and Calspan to test 16 variable stability system (VSS) configurations on a Calspan Learjet
Flight tests assessed handling qualities for landing tasks and evaluated robustness margins (gain and time-delay) of the L1 controller
Objective: demonstrate L1’s ability to maintain nominal handling qualities under aircraft failures (aerodynamic changes, control loss, CG shifts, etc.)
Built upon prior NASA Langley AirSTAR tests (2009–2011) and TUDelft SIMONA simulator evaluations (2011)
Conducted further extensive flight tests in 2016 (VISTA platform) and 2018 (Learjet)
