1996–1997: Postdoctoral researcher at Washington University in St. Louis, developing multi-channel ATM switching systems; also served as Instructor at Washington University and Adjunct Professor at University of Missouri–St. Louis.
1997–2000: Worked at Lucent Technologies’ PON Systems R&D organization, contributing to the world’s first commercial ATM-PON system.
2001–2007: Principal Engineer at STMicroelectronics, representing the company in FSAN, ITU-T, and IEEE 802.11/16 standards bodies; concurrently served as Researcher-in-Residence at Stanford Networking Research Center (SNRC) from 2001–2006, collaborating on 'Optical Internet' and 'Next-Generation Access Networks' projects.
2007–2014: Associate Professor in Networking at Swansea University, UK, leading the Hybrid Networking Research Laboratory (HNRL) with focus on NGOA and hybrid optical-wireless networks.
2014–present: Senior Associate Professor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), Suzhou, China.
