Currently a Professor at the Computer Science Department, Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).
Research focuses on data-driven studies of social, cultural, and human aspects in computing, bridging hypothesis-driven data science with novel machine learning models for datasets such as music, text, graphs, and networks.
Primarily conducts research at LabUAI, especially within the MOSAIC (Music Oriented Systems and AI for Creativity) group.
Main research topics: machine learning and data science for social-cultural data; music information retrieval.
Co-founded the Data Science undergraduate program (BSc) at UFMG; advocates for data science and machine learning literacy.
