- Founded the distributed systems research at Umeå University
- Member of the Executive Committee and four management groups of the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP, 6.2 billion SEK), coordinating Umeå University’s involvement
- Original Principal Investigator and member of the program management group for the eSSENCE Strategic Research Program (funded 390 million SEK)
- Principal Investigator for three Kempe Foundations projects, funding 25 postdocs in AI, autonomous systems, and software
- Participated in major national and EU projects including RESERVOIR, OPTIMIS, VISION Cloud, CACTOS, ORBIT, RECAP, ACTiCLOUD, FogGuru, COGNIT, ACROSS, and AAPELE
- Principal Investigator of Cloud Control—the second-largest project ever funded by the Swedish Research Council—applying control theory to autonomous cloud datacenter management
- Former Chair of the Board of the Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing (SNIC)
