About the job
We are seeking a GenAI-experienced Software Engineer with deep expertise in full-stack application development, enterprise-scale architecture, Large Language Model (LLM)-generated code, and the use of LLMs in agentic solutions. The primary mission of this role is to design and build automations that measure, report on, and suggest improvements to Operational Excellence (OE) and Engineering Excellence (EE) across Sam’s Club’s Merchandising and AI Labs (SCMAL) applications, logged incidents, and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
AI Application Development Use GenAI to accelerate the design and implementation of end-to-end applications using backend technologies such as Python, Java, Node.js, and Go. Incorporate communication components including email and SMS into application workflows. Integrate LLMs, MCP, and agent-based workflows into enterprise applications that replace manual OE/EE tracking and project management. Build modular, configurable, reusable frameworks that scale across hundreds of engineering teams. System Architecture & Scalability Architect and deploy systems using Kubernetes, containerized microservices, and service-oriented architectures. Ensure high availability, observability, and reliability for AI-powered applications. Optimize systems for performance, maintainability, and scalability within large enterprise environments. Automation & Efficiency with GenAI Automate OE/EE metrics, modernization tracking, and engineering maturity assessments using AI-driven workflows. Build AI tools that reduce manual reporting and project management overhead. Replace manual follow-ups and escalations with intelligent agentic workflows. Develop AI agents that deliver personalized team notifications and insights. Support scenarios such as AI-driven OKR tracking, automated engineering dashboards, AI-assisted follow-ups, and intelligent escalation handling. Operational & Engineering Excellence Apply OE/EE principles to ensure designs are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with productivity goals. Standardize AI-assisted practices for CI/CD, code reviews, testing rigor, and observability. Partner with leadership to embed automation-first practices into operational models. Technical Leadership Represent SCMAL in company-wide OE/EE forums. Lead OE/EE champions to act on organizational priorities. Communicate advancements, tooling updates, and best practices to the broader developer community.
