We are looking for a Software Development Manager who is passionate about leading a team that owns the design and development of a machine learning-based content assessment systems that supports AWS's extensive content ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Recruit, hire, mentor, and manage teams of software engineers.
Foster career growth and a strong team culture.
Interface with the product manager and internal customers to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate direction and progress.
Own the operational health of your team’s software
Manage the agile development process and methodology to deliver tech requirements on time and with a high-degree of precision and quality.
Coordinate with stakeholders in other groups, drive alignment across multiple orgs on shared goals and initiatives
Make long term org design decisions, architectural decisions.
Help develop long-term business and technology strategies.
Drive improvements in software engineering practices.
Qualifications
Minimum
3+ years of engineering team management experience
7+ years of engineering experience
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
3+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience
1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience
1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++ experience
1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture experience
1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming experience
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred
a passion for working on behalf of customers, have a track record of on-time delivery of large scale projects, and have the ability to operate independently and autonomously. This individual will be able to understand complex problems and identify areas where they will need to have their team invest, to ensure they are able to support the anticipated growth and future requirements of the services. Maturity, judgment, communication skills, negotiation skills and influencing skills are all essential as you will interact with cross-functional teams worldwide.
