As a fundamental tool for human activity, Maps technology is evolving and new techniques are emerging. Join our Search Team and play a critical role in revolutionizing how users discover places and things. As a Manager, you'll be a technical leader in Query Understanding, responsible for intent understanding, query transformations, suggestions, and more, shaping the core of our Maps search experience.

Responsibilities

Drive definitions and develop, evaluate and deploy multiple search features including Generative AI and LLMs, large-scale machine learning models, deep-learning and natural language processing solutions which are geared towards improving Search on Maps.

Own details of projects and long-term vision for the team.

Collaborate optimally with partner/product teams to set the goals, expectations, and roadmaps for their teams.

Provide technical and career mentorship to your team to ensure their success.

Communicate technical details and dependencies to engineering partners, product management teams, and executives across Apple.

Qualifications

Minimum

MS in Computer Science or related field with 6+ years of progressive software engineering management experience

Demonstrated success in leading and growing high-performing teams focused on information retrieval technologies, including search, assistants, personalization, and recommender systems.

Experience with distributed systems and services

Experience building and deploying Generative AI, LLM, and machine learning applications at scale.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts and roadmaps for diverse audiences, including partner teams, product management, and executive leadership.

Experience evaluating and deploying multiple search features including large-scale GenAI and AI/ML models, deep-learning, and natural language processing solutions

Understanding of search indexing and ranking algorithms

Background in execution and delivery of consumer-focused features or products
