We are looking for a Data Scientist 2 to join our team to help shape the future of how Office users interact with Copilot and AI. You will leverage your understanding of data science and business to examine projects and consider factors that can influence final outcomes within technical areas. In this role as a Data Scientist II, you’ll work closely with engineers, program managers, data scientists and applied scientists to improve our approach to experimentation, and advance personalized experiences, the use of foundational models, advancement of evaluation techniques, and improve overall efficiency.

Define, lead, and implement advanced, repeatable data-driven pipelines and techniques with an emphasis on evaluation for the next generation of model generated suggested user actions.

Conduct research projects and workstreams that directly benefit our customers, drive positive usage, and improve Microsoft’s core productivity products.

Evolve our approach of our prompt engineering, model selection, design and manage evaluation datasets, develop concepts for more efficient and accurate solutions, and researching and assessing different architectures and approaches from across the M365 ecosystem.

Collaborate and coordinate with people in a range of roles, including researchers, engineers, product managers, designers, and product leaders and other key product stakeholders.

Generate AI solutions that can be shipped to customers to improve their experience and used internally to generate data insights to shape the features and products we ship to customers.

Teach, guide, and tutor colleagues without research backgrounds in state-of-the-art techniques and research best practices.
