About the job

Join the Azure AI Platform air gapped engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer delivering secure, scalable, and mission critical AI infrastructure for Microsoft’s most sensitive cloud environments. We build foundational services that power Azure Machine Learning, Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, and Microsoft Foundry capabilities across air gapped, sovereign, and commercial clouds.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and enhance secure, scalable, and reliable distributed services for AI workloads across air gapped and sovereign cloud environments, demonstrating depth in system design and cloud scale engineering.

• Apply engineering fundamentals with leadership-level rigor, including automation, telemetry, resiliency engineering, performance optimization, and security by default implementation across services.

• Develop robust automation and platform tooling to improve deployment, testing, observability, and operational workflows, reducing friction and increasing engineering velocity.

• Work as an AI native full stack builder, using tools like GitHub Copilot and other approved Large Language Model (LLM) based workflows to accelerate design, coding, debugging, and prototyping, while following Foundry’s security and compliance guidance.

• Lead investigations during on call rotations, diagnose complex issues, drive root cause analyses, and deliver durable system improvements that enhance long term reliability.

• Incorporate customer, partner, and field feedback into technical decisions—aligning with the Foundry Product Way’s focus on customer first innovation and continuous learning loops.

• Collaborate effectively across teams, contributing to clear technical documentation, sharing insights, and modeling the Foundry culture of curiosity, craftsmanship, and high quality execution.
