Group Product Manager, AV Labs

Uber
San Francisco, CA, USA / Sunnyvale, CA, USA2026-03-30

About the job

Uber is launching AV Labs to accelerate the autonomous technology ecosystem. We’re building out a high-velocity team of multi-disciplinary experts to turn real-world operations into high-quality data for our autonomous partners. This team will be focused on the hardest problem in AV today: unlocking real-world, long-tail driving data. Autonomy is now a data race–and Uber has an edge: We collect rare, real-world driving data at a scale and capital efficiency no one else can match (millions of Uber trips every hour across cities, conditions, and edge cases create the data autonomy has been missing). We will build platforms that harness scale and real-world complexity to reimagine how the world moves. As a Group Product Manager on AV Labs, you will define and drive product strategy across a portfolio of technical domains central to our success. You will operate at the intersection of engineering, design, autonomy partners, operations, and leadership to shape the roadmap for how Uber captures, structures, validates, and delivers differentiated AV capabilities. You will be responsible for identifying strategic opportunities, defining the long-term roadmap, and steering cross-functional teams to deliver platforms that accelerate the autonomous ecosystem. This is a highly cross-functional role for a product leader who can translate ambitious business goals into clear product direction across multiple teams and technical surfaces.

Responsibilities

1. Define the product vision and multi-horizon roadmap spanning one or more of the following domains: hardware systems, machine learning, semantic understanding, and data & validation platforms.

2. Lead product strategy for complex, technical hardware & software initiatives alongside driving portfolio-level prioritization that balances long-term platform investments with near-term execution and partner commitments.

3. Partner deeply with Engineering, Science, Operations, Design, and Business leaders to translate ambiguous opportunities into product strategy, requirements, and measurable outcomes.

4. Influence executive stakeholders by clearly communicating roadmap tradeoffs, resource needs, progress, risks, and strategic recommendations.

5. Coach and elevate Product Managers and cross-functional teams, raising the bar for product craftsmanship, execution quality, and customer focus across the organization.

Qualifications

Minimum

1. Demonstrated ability to lead product strategy for deeply technical products or platforms with broad organizational scope.

2. Strong product judgment and systems thinking, with the ability to operate effectively across ambiguous, fast-moving problem spaces.

3. Strong analytical rigor, including defining success metrics, evaluating tradeoffs, and using data to guide prioritization.

4. Experience partnering closely with senior engineering and technical leaders to define roadmaps, make tradeoffs, and drive execution on complex initiatives.

5. Ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear product decisions, narratives, and stakeholder communication.

Preferred

1. Experience working on products in autonomous vehicles, robotics, AI/ML industries or related technical domains.

2. Deep domain expertise in at least one of the following pillars: sensor & compute integration, AI & ML systems, or evaluation & validation engines.

3. Comfort operating across software and hardware-adjacent problem spaces.
