Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support AI regulatory compliance and strategy and responsible AI for Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry, and offers a wide range of AI, machine learning, and agentic AI services.

In this role, you will serve as the primary AI compliance attorney supporting our portfolio of AWS AI services. You will work directly with business, legal, and policy teams as lead counsel to develop regulatory compliance plans and strategy for AI. You will identify legal risks and propose novel mitigation strategies, advise on responsible AI and regulatory compliance matters, provide input on business strategy, and contribute to AI public policy positions around the world.

You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways, and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business to innovate and scale quickly. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations, be inquisitive and enthusiastic about technology, and enjoy working hard and being continually challenged.

Responsibilities

- Identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies;

- Advising on existing and emerging AI laws and regulatory issues;

- Overseeing compliance approach and providing input on business strategy;

- Developing strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways; and

- Helping build processes that address risk and allow the business to innovate and scale quickly.

Qualifications

Minimum

- 5+ years of post bar admission legal experience

- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

Preferred

- Experience in private practice or in house experience at a technology company or equivalent

- Experience managing and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously

- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership

- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
