Amazon MGM Studios' AI Studios team is seeking an AI/VFX R&D Lead to develop production-ready AI workflows and POCs at cinematic quality and translate our learnings into scalable education, assets, and training for our productions. This role sits at the intersection of VFX craft and emerging AI tooling.
Responsibilities
Continuously monitor the evolving AI/GenAI landscape, evaluate emerging tools, and maintain a curated technology roadmap for the team
Evaluate and integrate AI tools into production-ready pipelines coordinate test shoots if needed, run structured tests, benchmark quality, document results that scale across productions
Translate R&D outputs and knowledge into educational assets and programs that equip VFX supervisors, line producers, and production teams can learn from and use
Partner directly with Production, Post Production, and VFX teams to investigate and test new workflows, including early-stage R&D efforts prior to project greenlight
Listen to challenges surfaced by internal teams, design potential solutions or workflow improvements, and validate them through hands-on testing, while also proactively identifying opportunities for innovation before problems arise
Present findings, recommendations, and roadmaps to studio leadership and production stakeholders, translating technical complexity into clear creative and business value
Qualifications
Minimum
Experience driving high performance content and growth within a world class content company
Experience managing vendor evaluations or technology scouting, as well as building or adapting production pipelines to integrate new tools or technologies
8+ years in VFX production and VFX supervision show side and/or vendor
Hands on and in-depth experience with AI tools for cinematic content production
Demonstrated ability to take a technical workflow from R&D through to repeatable, production-ready implementation
Hands-on experience with AI/GenAI tools for content creation (image generation, video generation, compositing)
Experience in VFX pipeline TD, look development, or compositing supervision
Comfort with rapid technology evolution learns new tools quickly, benchmarks quality, and translates for non-technical audiences
Experience designing training or educational programs for creative professionals
Preferred
Experience coordinating cross-functional teams (artists, engineers, production crew)
