We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to develop cutting-edge machine learning algorithms for robots that operate in human environments and build infrastructure to support our research and development efforts. In this role, you will focus on creating and optimizing intelligent motor control strategies to enable robots to perform complex tasks. Your contributions will advance robotics by enabling fluid, reliable, and safe interactions between robots and their environments. We anticipate that candidates for this role will have experience applying machine learning or AI techniques to control systems, robotics, or related areas in addition to experience with robotic deployments.

Responsibilities

- Develop techniques and infrastructure that enable deployment of robotic systems on real robots.

- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate perception, mapping, navigation, motor control, and human interaction systems with robotic hardware, ensuring alignment with real-world constraints.

- Use simulation and real-world testing to refine and validate robot systems.

- Stay updated on advancements in robotics, AI, and control systems to apply cutting-edge techniques to robotic system challenges.

Qualifications

Minimum

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- Prior work experience with robotics (using ROS/ROS2 or otherwise) and/or a deep understanding of robotic subsystems such as computer vision, signal processing, or motor control.

- Experience with physics-based simulation tools.

- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++.

Preferred

- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Neuroscience, or a related field – additional industry experience preferred.

- Experience with reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or other AI techniques applied to robotic motor control.

- Familiarity with hardware constraints and actuator dynamics for robotic platforms.
