Amazon Search creates customer-focused product search solutions and technologies. The Search Science Data Infrastructure (SSDI) team is responsible for delivering high quality and fresh ML model training data, and providing seamless access to all ML artifacts through federated Feature Store infrastructure. This platform provides the ML training data and real-time signals / embeddings for inferencing to Amazon search ranking, matching quality, search economics and also powers live-site features, including search suggestions, query understanding, spelling, search result ranking, and personalization. Furthermore, 450+ teams across Amazon consume our datasets to power analytics and behavioral models.
Responsibilities
Lead development of services and infrastructure at the intersection of machine learning, big data, and distributed systems; Build training data systems to provide high-quality customer engagement signals as a feedback loop to the search ranking and matching models powering the Amazon Search experience; Engage closely with the team and provide technical leadership, strategic direction, and oversight to ensure timely delivery with high quality; Mentor the professional development of each direct report through personal and performance management; Attract, excite, grow, and retain top engineering talent; Build strong relationships with your customers, peers, and stakeholders
Qualifications
Minimum
3+ years of engineering team management experience; 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience; 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience; 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience; Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations; Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred
Master's degree in computer science or equivalent; Experience with building and deploying machine learning systems to solve large-scale optimizations, or experience in operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets for machine learning; Experience building machine learning infrastructure for large-scale business applications that have been successfully delivered to customers; Experience in operational excellence, security compliance, and distributed systems resiliency; Experience working with customers with a passion for delivering exceptional service, or experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
