We are seeking an experienced employment attorney to provide strategic counsel on labor and employment matters, with a focus on advising HR and product teams on the legal implications of artificial intelligence in employment decisions. You'll partner directly with builders and senior leadership to provide proactive guidance on AI regulations, employment compliance, discrimination, disability accommodation, and workforce management, while managing sophisticated outside counsel relationships.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage complex employment litigation including class actions, single-plaintiff lawsuits, and government agency investigations
- Assess, select, and supervise outside counsel on employment matters
- Advise HR and product teams on legal compliance for AI tools and systems used in employment decisions, including hiring, performance management, and terminations
- Provide strategic counsel on federal and state AI legislation and regulations affecting HR functions
- Partner with HR stakeholders to assess legal risks of high-risk AI tools and automated decision systems
- Develop compliance frameworks for AI-powered HR technologies in accordance with emerging regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR, Legal, Privacy, and Technology to ensure responsible AI use in employment contexts
Qualifications
Minimum
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 5+ years of legal experience
- 3+ years of litigation experience
- Knowledge of employment law and HR policies and procedures
- Experience advising on the legal impact of high-risk AI tools, systems, and technology in employment contexts
Preferred
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Litigation background with experience handling employment matters
